Sophomores Zach Fuecker, Chelsea Schroeder, and Kalie Jergens were named the John Haller Athletes of the year 2017-2018.
Fuecker a Sauk Rapids, MN native, is a captain for the Cyclones Baseball team. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Zach is the Student Senate President, and has earned Academic All Conference Awards.
Schroeder (ROCORI)and Jergens (Becker, MN), shared the award for the Female recognition. Schroeder, is a 2 sport athlete in Volleyball and Softball for the Cyclones. She was named to the MCAC Elite '17 team which recognizes student athletes who earn athletic awards while also achieving in the class room. She has been a part of 2 national tournament teams. She and her teammates will attempt to make another national tournament this spring.
Jergens is the first volleyball All-American at SCTCC. She helped the Cyclones to their first ever trip to the National Tournament where they finished 5th. She is a two time all- conference player and was also named to the MCAC Elite '17 team. She was named the Region 13A Tournament MVP and also earned All Tournament team recognition at the National Tournament.
The athlete of the year award is given to a male and female sophomore student athlete: superior competitor, quality student and outstanding citizen. The award is given in rememberance of John Haller former SCTCC Director of Student Life/Athletics who championed student activity and achievements as a part of the collegiate experience.
